Often, you won't need a complete top-to-bottom remodeling to freshen up your kitchen. Instead, new tile flooring, a backsplash, or a counter might do the trick. As always, feel free to come in to see us when you are shopping for tile in Sacramento, CA.
First, understand the difference between floor and wall ceramics
Floor ones are heavier, denser, and meant to withstand the weight of people walking. Wall ceramics are thinner and often more slippery. All come in countless designs, colors, and patterns, and while you can use these floors on the wall, you shouldn't use walls on the floor.
Porcelain: Ideal for kitchen floors
Porcelain is a type of ceramic made of nonporous clay, sand, and glass; as a result, it is denser, permanently waterproof whether or not it's glazed, and a terrific choice for busy, heavy foot trafficked rooms, like the kitchen.
You’ll be amazed at what you see in our tile flooring store because this large format tile can be made to look like anything, including fabric, leather, wood, or stone. It also has through-body color, meaning that it goes all the way through the bisque, rather than sitting on top in the glaze with the unlikely event that if it does chip or scratch, it won't be noticeable.
Class 3 ceramics: For backsplashes and counters
The Porcelain and Enamel Institute (PEI) established classes, or categories, to determine tile's ability to withstand wear. While these are on the box label, also tell our professionals how you plan to use them. For example, you'll want to choose C3, which can be used just about anywhere in a residential space; it's also a good choice for indoor moderately foot trafficked floors which may or may not be ideal for your kitchen.
Our professionals will help you find the right tile for your installation but, remember, the right or wrong one can impact a remodeling, so choose wisely.
